The BBB Serving Denver/Boulder, a 501(c)(6) business membership organization, opened its doors in August 1951. Almost exactly 50 years later, we received determination of status from the Internal Revenue Service for our 501(c)(3) affiliate, the BBB Foundation.
Consumer education is paramount to a safe and ethical marketplace. For years, we had provided outreach and education services to older adults, who are particularly vulnerable to being scammed. With our Foundation in place beginning in August 2001, we began to actively grow these outreach efforts and increase our focus on older adults as well as the rapidly growing population of Spanish-preferred consumers in our region.
BBB Foundation programs include the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Trust, now in its seventh year, and the BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship, now in its fourth year.
The BBB Foundation is governed by a separate Board of Directors and is currently actively fund-raising to support growing programs related to Latino outreach, charity review, financial literacy and older adults.
